It’s possible that when you’re playing Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, you’ve noticed that you don’t have as much health as you normally have, or that purple is beginning to seep into your health meter as you engage in combat.

This is because of a feature called Corruption, which attempts to present a challenge and inspire collaboration in your fights against the hordes of Chaos. Corruption has made this possible. What exactly is it that corruption accomplishes, and how does it function? Our guide will provide you with information on this feature, as well as some advice on how to best utilize it.

In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, what exactly is corruption?

The amount of health that your character has, or more accurately, how little health they have, can be affected by a characteristic called corruption. Because of this developing negative effect, your character will not be able to completely heal themselves, and the maximum amount of health they may have will decrease as the amount of corruption they have increased.

During the course of your missions, you almost certainly saw this by looking at the violet bar on the right side of your screen as it gradually filled up with your health.

You can acquire corruption in a few different ways, the first of which is when you are incapacitated and require resuscitation. This results in the acquisition of a sizeable quantity of corruption and, as a result, a reduction in your general health.

You can also acquire Corruption by battling certain adversaries, such as Elites and Specialist troops, albeit the bonuses you receive from doing so are substantially lower than those you receive from being taken down.

The Grimoires are a collectible item for one of the game’s secondary objectives. Collecting one of these gives you and all of your teammates a 25% health reduction that cannot be undone for the remainder of the mission in exchange for larger rewards; consequently, you will want to make sure that you and your allies are willing to take on the additional difficulty before you collect it.

Finding a Medicae Station, which might appear at various times throughout a mission, is the sole means to purge oneself of the Corruption that has been inflicted upon them. These stations will restore your health to its maximum level and remove any corruption that you currently have, with the exception of corruption that was acquired via using grimoires.

These are often located at the start, the middle, and the end of each level, and serve as a form of benchmark for your progression through the game. It is important to note that Medicae Stations have a maximum of four uses, but this number varies depending on the type of station and the difficulty level you are playing on. This means that as the difficulty level increases, you will have fewer opportunities to use them, and you will therefore need to give priority to those who are in the greatest need.

There are additional situations in which you need to locate a power supply in order to get them running. These power supplies are often located in close proximity to the station.
