Teenager Arrested in Connection to Rockstar Games and Uber Data Breach in the United Kingdom

The police in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, detained a young man aged 17 on suspicion of being involved in the recent attack on Rockstar Games and perhaps Uber’s data leak.

The revelation that the FBI is looking into the breach on Uber’s systems follows closely on the heels of Uber’s disclosure that the FBI is investigating the incident. The arrest was made “in conjunction with an investigation that was being carried out by the FBI.” It is anticipated that the City of London Police and the FBI will shortly release official statements on this matter.

According to Uber, the individual who was responsible for the attack is a member of a hacker gang known as “Lapsus$,” which has gotten significantly more active over the course of the previous year. It is common knowledge that the organization goes against technology giants including Microsoft, Samsung, and Cisco.

Lapsus$ is known to actively seek out and recruit teenage hackers for their group. In March, a young man aged 16 was detained on suspicion of being a “multi-millionaire cyber-criminal” and the leader of the Lapsus$ organization.
