Since its release a little more than a month ago, SEGA revealed today through Twitter that Sonic Frontiers had sold over 2.5 million copies around the globe since it was first made available. The first entry in the franchise to be influenced by open-world game design has undoubtedly made an impressive start to its run.

After having a positive overall experience with the game, Francesco gave it an 8 out of 10 rating in the review that Wccftech published.

Is Sonic Frontiers going to be the game that finally puts an end to the nearly continuous

What kind of heartbreak do supporters have to go through? In my opinion, there is no doubt about that. Even though the overall experience is not even nearly flawless, the path that the game takes provides a strong basis upon which Sonic Team can construct the continuation of the franchise.

I have a deep and honest hope that the developer, this time around, will not ignore the new course of action and will instead make it the foundation for the Sonic the Hedgehog series’s continued success in the years to come.

It’s possible that Sonic Frontiers isn’t the finest Sonic the Hedgehog game ever developed, but there’s no denying that it ranks among the series’ very best entries. Even with its flaws, the new open-world format works remarkably well, and the Cyber Space levels and fighting are exceptionally well-designed, engaging, and above all else, enjoyable.

The gameplay of Sonic Frontiers, with a few minor adjustments, can serve as the foundation for the franchise in the future, perhaps bringing it back to the glory days of the series.

Takashi Iizuka, the head of the Sonic Team, stated a few of weeks ago that Sonic Frontiers will serve as the foundation for future entries in the platform game series.

In other Sonic-related news, fans cannot contain their excitement for the premiere of Sonic Prime. This computer-generated animated television series will debut on Netflix in two days.
