Even though there has already been a small selection of downloadable content (DLC) made available for the blue blur’s most recent adventure, Sonic Frontiers, there is a significant amount of further content on the horizon. Sonic Frontiers has been out for a few weeks now. The company Sega has stated that they would be releasing a great deal of new material throughout the year in three separate waves.

The official Sonic Twitter account has disseminated information on the 2023 content strategy for Frontiers. The jukebox, picture feature, and new challenge modes that are included in Update 1 are all rather noteworthy additions to the game.

Because Sonic Frontiers has such a large number of original songs, the ability to play any of them at any time is a welcome addition. In the gaming world of today, photo options are almost required to be included. It would be nice to have new ways to revisit the previous challenges for players who have already completed the game, despite the fact that the game already includes many challenges across its various islands.

Another three new features have been included with the latest update, and they are as follows: Sonic’s birthday, an “open zone challenge,” and the new Koco. This one is a little more ambiguous than the others because the material for Sonic’s birthday might be anything at all.

The same is true for tasks in open zones, however, the graphic suggests that these challenges would require time trials of some form. Even if there are now a great number of misplaced Koco in Sonic Frontiers, it appears that there will be even more for us to find and save in the next year.

The third and final update will introduce Amy, Knuckles, and Tails as new playable characters, in addition to introducing new plot elements. Since the game does not presently allow you to take control of Sonic’s allies, this will be a welcome addition to the roster. The fact that Sage can be seen in the picture gives the impression that the tale will continue with her playing a more significant role.

The year 2023 will see the release of all of these improvements, however, at this time we do not know any precise dates. The first one sounds like it could have content that arrives in a reasonable amount of time. It is highly unlikely that Update 2 will be released before the summer, given that Sonic’s birthday in the Sonic canon is on June 23. This suggests that new characters who can be controlled by the player won’t be added for some time, either.

You’ll be happy to know that there is already downloadable supplemental content available for Sonic Frontiers right now. By subscribing to a newsletter, you can obtain the recognizable SOAP Shoes from Sonic Adventure 2, and there is also Monster Hunter DLC available that adds Rathalos armor to Sonic.
