It has been rumored that Advanced Warfare 2 would replace World War II in the Call of Duty 2025 game.

The Call of Duty game for 2019 is titled Modern Warfare 2, and it is a continuation of the reboot that began with the release of Modern Warfare in 2019. New information suggests that the setting of Call of Duty 2025 will shift from the contemporary to the not-too-distant future, transporting players to the time period of Advanced Warfare.

After failing to meet Activision’s expectations during the fiscal year 2021-2022, the report claims that Sledgehammer will no longer develop games that take place during World War II. The report comes from WhatIfGaming and claims that Sledgehammer will stop developing games that take place during World War II (it is considered to be one of the worst Call of Duty games).

As a result, Advanced Warfare 2 is now being considered. The game that was released in 2014 did not receive universal appreciation either, but returning to the setting of the game’s near future would be a significant shift from all that was included in Vanguard. Sci-fi provides a striking contrast to World War II, and returning to Advanced Warfare would provide the opportunity to test out some of the game’s concepts using the series’s newest engine.

It should come as no surprise that Call of Duty has never been shy about returning to or reusing its previous locations. As was said previously, the game that will be released this year is a continuation of the Call of Duty world that was restarted in 2019 by the release of Modern Warfare.

A remaster of the first Modern Warfare was released two years prior to the release of Modern Warfare 2, and the campaign mode of Modern Warfare 2 was also eventually remastered. Even though Activision has not in any way announced Advanced Warfare 2, it does not come as a surprise to learn that the sequel is already in development. This is especially true considering that the setting has only been utilized in a single previous game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to be released on October 28 in the year 2022. That will be playable across several platforms, including the personal computer (PC), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, thanks to the inclusion of cross-play functionality. As the beta version of the game smashed series records for players, matches, and hours played, it is obvious that there is already a lot of passion for the game.

Additionally, the second version of Call of Duty: Warzone will be released this year. On November 16, a little over two weeks following the release of Modern Warfare 2, it will be available on the same platforms.
