Another narrative trailer has been released in advance of the formal release of Fire Emblem Engage, which is scheduled for January 20, 2023. Until then, this will have to do.
Our primary protagonist, the Divine Dragon Alear, will be tasked with the responsibility of gathering the 12 symbol rings that are scattered over the kingdom; yet, our character does not quite recall everything there is to know about who these people are or who they were.
In addition, the trailer introduces upcoming new characters for Engage and gives a hint at the return of certain previously seen characters from Fire Emblem, such as Martha, who can be called upon by wearing an emblem ring.
The male form of Alear is seen in the video; however, players will be able to choose the gender of their character once they actually have a chance to play the game.
At the beginning of the novel, Alear’s mother passes away in his arms while she is giving him her symbol ring. She forces him to make a vow that they would collect all 12 rings and battle against the impending danger posed by the Fell Dragon.
We get fleeting looks at the forthcoming kingdoms, such as Brodia and Fierne, as well as a few new people, although the most of them are not given names at this point in the story.
Additionally, we observe Alear engaging in many consultations with Marth, the primary focus of which is on who they were. Even though our primary individual doesn’t appear to recall everything about themselves, Marth is confident that they were a good-natured person in the past. We do not have any idea how many of Alear’s memories have been lost.
Near the end of the trailer, we are also given an introduction to many adversaries; however, similar to a large number of the characters, they are not given names. It is possible that these characters are devotees of the Fell Dragon and that they have some link to the symbol rings that Alear is gathering.
There is a fleeting suggestion that one of the opponents is in charge of an emblem ring, and Marth’s hair color shifts from blue to red, which is a tint that is comparable to one-half of our character’s hair color. However, we were not provided with any specific facts regarding what this entailed; so, we are only left to conjecture over how this situation may develop.
This trailer did not feature any actual gameplay, but there is still plenty of time before we get our hands on the actual product. On January 20, 2023, Fire Emblem Engage will be available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch.
