A significant Intel roadmap and presentation deck have been discovered online, confirming the specifications and platform specifics of Raptor Lake and Sapphire Rapids Workstation CPUs.

Intel Desktop and Workstation Roadmap Revealed; Raptor Lake Refresh Scheduled for the Third Quarter of 2023; Sapphire Rapids Workstation Set for the First Half of 2023

The disclosure concerns three aspects: to begin, there is the roadmap, which addresses both workstations and PCs. The second section includes the specs for a variety of desktop and workstation SKUs, while the third and final section includes the chipset roadmap as well as platform specifics. Let’s begin with the Core i9-13900KS, the first processor that Intel will release for desktop computers in 2023.

The Intel Core i9-13900KS is the First Desktop Central Processing Unit to Reach 6 GHz.

The Intel Core i9-13900KS will be the most powerful processor available in the Raptor Lake family. It will have 24 cores and 32 threads and will be configured with 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores. The 13900KS central processing unit (CPU) is the first chip to reach that frequency straight from the factory thanks to its ‘Thermal Velocity Boost’ frequency, which can reach up to 6 GHz.

Intels Raptor Lake CPUs will be updated in Q3 2023 according to a leak. 2

The central processing unit (CPU) has a ‘Turbo Boost Max’ frequency that can reach up to 5.8 GHz, and its P-Cores can achieve a regular turbo frequency of up to 5.4 GHz, while its E-Cores can achieve a frequency of up to 4.3 GHz.

  • Core i9-13900KS 8+16 (24/32) – 3.2 / 6.0 GHz – 66 MB Cache, 150W (PL1) / 253W (PL2)+
  • Core i9-12900KS 8+8 (16/24) – 3.4 / 5.5 GHz – 30 MB Cache, 125W (PL1) / 241W (PL2)

The central processing unit (CPU) will have a combined cache of 68 megabytes, as well as a rating of 150 watts for power level 1, which may be increased to 253 watts or even higher by adopting severe power profile settings. When it finally makes its way into retail stores around the beginning of 2023, the CPU is anticipated to have a price tag of approximately 799 USD, although supplies will be extremely restricted.

Hybrid Refresh For The Third Quarter Of 2023 On The Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh CPU Family
By the second half of 2023, Intel also intends to rework its portfolio of Raptor Lake-S central processing units (CPUs).

The central processing units (CPUs) that will continue to use the “Intel 7” process node will have some minor enhancements, such as increased clock speeds and other features, and will be compatible with the LGA 1700/1800 motherboards that are already on the market.

All consumer and entry-workstation platforms will be supported by the portfolio, along with 35W, 65W, and 125W SKUs. There is currently no information available on the lineup, but this more or less indicates that Meteor Lake central processing units will not be released until 2024.

Xeon W-2400 and Xeon W-3400 are the CPUs for the Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon Workstation.
The Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon Workstation lineup will, as was to be anticipated, consist of processors belonging to the Xeon W9, Xeon W7, Xeon W5, and Xeon W3 segments, and it will be available in Monolithic and MCM variants.

There are 17 stock-keeping units (SKUs) available, of which 8 belong to the Xeon W-2400 family, and 9 belong to the Xeon W-3400 family. The maximum thermal design power (TDP) for the Xeon W-3400 platform will be 350 watts, while the maximum TDP for the Xeon W-2400 CPUs will be 225 watts.

Family of Processors Provided by Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon W9

Beginning with the Xeon W9 series, we have the Xeon W9-3495X, the most powerful Sapphire Rapids-WS chip. It has 56 cores and 105 MB of L3 cache, followed by the Xeon W9-3475X, which has 36 cores (82.5 MB L3 Cache).

Family of Processors Provided by Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon W7

The Xeon W7 series has a total of five different SKUs, which are broken down as follows: the Xeon W7-3465X (28 Core), the Xeon W7-3455 (24 Core), the Xeon W7-3445 (20 Core), the Xeon W7-2495X (24 Core), and the Xeon W7-2475X (20 Core). The Xeon W7 product family begins to differentiate between the Sapphire Rapids-SP family and the Xeon W-3000 and Xeon W-2000 product families, which will be discussed in a moment.

Family of Processors Provided by Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon W5

The Xeon W5 family comes in second, with 8 different SKUs available for purchase. These include the Xeon W5-3435X (16 Core), the Xeon W5-3433 (16 Core), the Xeon W5-3425 (12 Core), the Xeon W5-3423 (12 Core), the Xeon W5-2465X (16 Core), the Xeon W5-2455X (12 Core), the Xeon W5-2445 (10 Core), and the Xeon W5-2435 (8 Core) SKUs.

Family of Processors Provided by Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon W3

Lastly, we have the Xeon W3 lineup, the most entry-level category with just two Xeon W-2000 SKUs, the Xeon W3-2425 (6 Core) and the Xeon W3-2423. These processors belong to the Xeon W-2000 family (6 Core). The Xeon W3-2423 will be the only SKU in the lineup that does not enable hyper-threading, meaning it will have 6 cores in addition to its 6 threads.

Fishhawk Falls ‘W790’ Platform: Up To 112 PCIe Gen5 Lanes, 8-Channel DDR5, Unlocked Multiplier

Now we will discuss the essential component, which is the platform. To power motherboards, the Intel Fishhawk Falls platform will use the W790 chipset, which will be available in two different varieties.

While the Xeon W3000 CPU lineup will feature an MCM design, supporting 8-channel DDR5 memory and 112 PCIe Gen 5 lanes, the Xeon W2000 CPU lineup will feature a Monolithic design, with 4-channel DDR5 memory and 64 PCIe Gen 5 lanes. The Xeon W3000 CPU lineup will feature an MCM design, supporting 8-channel DDR5 memory and 112 PCIe Gen 5 lanes.

In addition, the ‘X’ components will have a design that is completely unlocked, which proves that users of HEDT computers will have access to motherboards that are ready for overclocking so that they may fine-tune their CPUs even further. A MESH interface will be implemented throughout the board for all CPUs.
