If the game you’re playing crashes, use this cheat for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to prevent losing any of your saved game data.
Whether you choose to save your progress manually or make use of the game’s autosave function, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will always make a secondary autosave in the background at regular intervals. This functionality was first brought to our attention by the user @BrybryPokebip on Twitter.
There is a straightforward method available to you to restore your game to a recent point in time if you ever find yourself in the midst of a game crash. Simply enter the following button combination when you are at the main menu of the game: Up + X + B.
If everything was done correctly, the game will switch to a save load screen. On this screen, it will list all of the game progress from where it was last saved, along with the time and date. If you click the yellow “Start from backup data” button that is located at the bottom of this screen, the game will load the backup save file that has been selected for you. Even if the autosave function is off, this functionality will continue to function normally. If you decide that the save point isn’t to your liking, you can always quit the game and start over with your most recent save the file.

The fact that there is always a backup save behind the scenes can help players remain calm when they inevitably run into a bug or crash in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This unquestionably reduces the level of frustration and enables players to have more fun exploring Paldea.
