At this point, each new FromSoftware announcement is a big deal, and the next oversized item was unveiled at The Game Awards.
With a new Armored Core game, it had officially revealed that FromSoftware would return to its roots from when it was the “Souls” studio.
An arresting trailer for Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, displaying a strong, stylized aesthetic and some furious combat, served as the game’s announcement. Below is a link to the game’s launch trailer.
Sincerely, I prefer fantasy over mechs, but I’m willing to set my biases aside if FromSoftware decides to revisit the genre. Want to learn more? Here is Armored Core VI Fire of Rubicon’s official description.
“With breakthrough gameplay seen in the developer’s most current action games, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will deliver a gaming experience based on the mech game expertise FromSoftware has developed over 25 years of creating the series titles.
The new ARMORED CORE game, which is set to be a unique entry in the mech action game genre, will blend these components into the exhilarating action that only mechas can deliver.
Players can freely roam around expansive three-dimensional terrain with quick agility and engage in intense vehicular warfare in Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon.
The game, a hallmark of FromSoftware’s meticulous game design, will have challenging and memorable fights, a satisfying progression system, and rich gameplay, all of which are now driven by building mechs and engaging in battle with enormous monsters.
When they successfully navigate a challenging circumstance, players will feel a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. They may also get a temporary boost to their status before facing the next obstacle.”
Sometime in 2023, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will debut. Platforms are still to be determined.
