Maverick Games is a new AAA production firm already working on an intriguing ultra-high-quality project. Former Forza Horizon 5 devs have left Playground Games to unveil Maverick Games.
Mike Brown, a former Playground Games Creative Director, is the founder of the new studio. However, he is not the only Maverick Games developer who worked on Forza Horizon 5; he is joined at the new studio by Tom Butcher, who is serving as Executive Producer; Matt Craven, who is serving as CTO; Gareth Harwood, who is serving as Content Director, and Fraser Strachan, who is serving as Audio Director. All of these individuals worked on the game.
Other members of the new firm include former Sumo Digital Leamington Co-Studio Head Harinder Sangha, former Sharkmob London programmer Ben Penrose, and former EA Experience Design Director Elly Marshall. All three of these individuals were formerly employed by EA.
Mike Brown, the creator of Maverick Games, issued a statement concurrently with the firm’s announcement. In the report, he discussed the primary focuses that the studio will have going forward.
“Our goal is for Maverick Games to be a studio people will love. For players, we’re already at work on an exciting ultra-high quality title, and for developers, we’re building a home where everyone is encouraged to take risks, be curious, be creative, be innovative, be themselves, and above all – be a Maverick.”
