There is no need to point out just how revolutionary the Dark Souls series was and how many new franchises it has affected in recent years since FromSoftware has been on a roll over the past decade. There is little need to point out just how revolutionary the Dark Souls series was.

But even though several other development firms were preoccupied with Dark Souls clones and achieved little to no success enhancing the concept, FromSoftware managed to do it on many occasions.

Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice are both available now. Compared to previous entries in the Souls series, both games significantly emphasized offensive and mobility, transforming them into even more exhilarating high-risk/high-reward adventures.

Even though many people are looking forward to the release of FromSoftware’s newest upcoming game, Elden Ring, in 2023, many of us are still interested in hearing the news regarding the possibility of a sequel to an already established and much-loved intellectual property (IP).

So, what exactly is going on with Bloodborne at this point? Finally, you are going to discover the answer.

The Supposed Teaser Trailer for Bloodborne 2

Many individuals were under the impression that the first teaser for Sekiro, which can be seen here, was luring them into purchasing a sequel to Bloodborne. However, as of the 2018 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), it was revealed that the “Shadows Die Twice” teaser was alluding to a new Souls-like game, which is unfortunate news for all of the bloodthirsty hunters out there.

It’s not hard to understand why some fans were under the impression that this teaser had something to do with Bloodborne:

  • The general visual style was quite reminiscent of the one seen in the first Bloodborne teaser.
  • The Bloodborne narrative revolves heavily around death, birth, and rebirth at many points.
  • Within the “Soulsborne” universe, eastern cultures were already there and well established. Most notably, Yamamura in the Old Hunters downloadable content pack promised Sekiro. This was similar to how Marvelous Chester previewed Bloodborne in the Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content pack for the first Dark Souls game.

In addition to all of these clues, a mysterious mechanism eventually strongly resembled a new type of trick weapon. However, when Sekiro was finally shown, it was revealed that this was the protagonist’s prosthetic limb, even though it ultimately ended up functioning in a manner comparable to that of a trick weapon in its own right.

When Will Bloodborne 2 Be Available, and Will We Ever See It?

Including several easter eggs in FromSoftware’s PSVR title, Deracine was another factor that provided fans of Bloodborne with reason to be optimistic. Several people saw this as evidence that the “Bloodborne 2” production was now underway. Despite this, however, Hidetaka Miyazaki was eager to end those speculations by stating unequivocally that they were in no way suggestive of the fact that a sequel was being planned.

Instead, FromSoftware was concentrating its efforts on Elden Ring, billed as the “most ambitious FromSoftware game” up to that point. However, when the game was ultimately released in February of 2022, all the anticipation surrounding the game was proven to be entirely justified.

Even though there has not been any announcement regarding a potential sequel to Bloodborne yet, there is a significant possibility that another game in the series may be released. Why?

First and foremost, there is a lot of affection for Bloodborne, both among the fans and the creators that worked on the game themselves, even if there has been no official confirmation of a sequel. Miyazaki has also mentioned that the choice as to whether or not a sequel would be developed was not his, which means that the destiny of this intellectual property will ultimately lie with its owner, Sony.

Now that both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X have been released, the new generation of video game consoles may be said to have begun in earnest. However, if Sony wants to come out on top in this iteration’s “Console War,” it would be advantageous to use its beneficial to use its unique intellectual property game in this iteration.

Exclusives have been one of PlayStation’s critical assets for a significant time. Therefore, it would not be a sage move on Sony’s behalf to shelve one of its most celebrated exclusive intellectual properties (IPs).

We hope that throughout this generation of consoles, we will be able to play another installment of the Bloodborne series at some time. And since Miyazaki has previously stated a desire to create another Bloodborne game, a new entry in the series may be released sometime after Elden Ring is made available to the public the following year.

The Closing Statement

All of this is nothing more than conjecture, and there is no way for us to know whether or not Bloodborne 2 will ever honestly be released. However, we hope for this long-awaited sequel due to several factors, including the popularity of the intellectual property (IP), the significant demand for a sequel among fans, and the desire of the filmmaker to work on it. The decision-making authority ultimately rests with Sony, as was indicated earlier.

It’s also important to point out that FromSoftware’s first and original “Souls” game, Demon’s Souls, has been rebuilt specifically for the PlayStation 5 and is currently available. But, again, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything regarding Bloodborne. Still, considering Sony didn’t hide the old, often-overlooked PlayStation 3 exclusive, it is doubtful that it will do that with Bloodborne. But, again, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything regarding Bloodborne.

Ultimately, all we can do is wait and watch what happens.
