Dota 2 is one of the most popular games in the world with millions of players spread around the globe. The game is completely free to play (and is actually free without any hidden micro transactions) but unlike other free games it has quite high requirements. Developed by Valve Software on the Source 2 engine Dota 2 has production value and graphics that rival any big budget game and thus needs a solid gaming laptop as it won’t run well (or at all) on older laptops. Below are our recommendations for the best laptop for Dota 2 2017 for different budgets and performance requirements.

Other than performance it has features which make it very suitable for playing Dota 2, namely the 17 Inch screen since you can’t really play Dota 2 well on smaller screens since you need to watch the mini map closely. In addition it runs very cool, heat is a big problem when it comes to playing Dota 2 on laptops as a single match can take around 40-60 minutes and you can easily end up playing 3-4 matches.

We tested it with 5 hours of playtime on three different occasions and it barely got heated up at all and can run Dota 2 for 6 hours on a fully charged battery. Considering all its features and price the Asus Rog G751 is the best gaming laptop for Dota 2 2016.While Dota 2 does have high requirements it is optimized very well and you don’t need a $3500 laptop to run the game at maximum settings. In fact after testing it on various laptop models we found that the ASUS ROG G751 (which only costs $1599.00) gaming laptop can run the game with everything maxed out rather easily.

With an Intel i-7 processor and 16GB of RAM the laptop has no problems running Dota 2 and with the GTX 980M you get amazing FPS (100+) at the max resolution of 1920 x 1080 with no hiccups whatsoever.

The 15.6 Inch screen is a little less than ideal for Dota 2 but it gets the job done and you won’t miss out on any action. Again it doesn’t run hot at all even with 5 hours of playtime and has a decent battery life of around 4.5 hours on Dota 2.If you can’t afford the G751 but still want a laptop that can run Dota 2 fairly well then go for the ASUS ROG GL551 gaming laptop which is around half the price.

For the price it has very impressive specs including a i-7 processor, 8GB RAM and NVIDIA GTX960M graphics card. It runs Dota 2 very well and you can get 70+ FPS with high settings. Maxing out the settings does cause the occasional FPS drops but it’s a generally smooth 50+ FPS.

It has a 15.6 Inch screen which is pretty great for the price range, an AMD quad core processor, decent integrated graphics card and 6GB of RAM. It doesn’t heat up too much and can run Dota 2 for 3.5 hours on a full battery charge. This is the cheapest gaming laptop that you can buy that will run Dota 2 fairly well.

If you simply want a cheap laptop that will run Dota 2 than Lenovo G50 gaming laptop is your best best. At merely $330 it will run Dota 2 at a playable level that is still enjoyable. You will have to turn down the settings to medium/low to make it run smoothly at 30+ FPS but still enough details to see and understand all the spells and other action.
